Sidewalk Style at Freshfields Village
It’s hard to believe that the end of summer is already upon us, and what better way to close out the season with some retail therapy. Freshfields Village in Kiawah is hosting a Summer Sidewalk Sale happening this Friday, September 4th through Sunday, September 6th. Participating stores are having their end of summer sales and welcoming in fresh new fall merchandise. The Sidewalk Sale will take place from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm on Friday & Saturday and 1:00 to 6:00 pm on Sunday. Spend the perfect day relaxing at the beach and then visit Freshfields Village for some shopping and dining out.
This dress is from Holly & Brooks, the locally owned coastal chic boutique in the heart of the village. They’ve got a great mix of clothing and accessories at every price point. They also have plenty of fashionable masks to coordinate with any outfit you buy.
Downtown boutique Noddy recently opened at the village at the old Wonder Works Toys space. I was sad to see my boy’s favorite store gone, but happy another locally owned boutique stepped in. They carry an array of locally made accessories and gifts. Brands like Norton & Hodges, Margerite & Motte, Foxy Fossils, and Taxidermy are finally available to the local islanders and visitors in Kiawah.
These exotic sandals, cowry shell bib necklace, and bracelets are by Norton & Hodges at Noddy. This brand ethically sources everything from Africa and opposes the inhumane treatment of animals and adheres to the highest ethical standards in the sourcing of any fur and feathers. Their bold and beautiful accessories will catch your eye as you peruse all the goods in the store.
As soon as you step inside Tres Carmen the candy colored leather bags by Beck Bags command your attention. I’m so happy to see so many boutiques in Freshfields Village supporting small businesses.
If you’re looking to spruce up your home then don’t miss out on the GDC Home Labor Day Sale with 25-75% off everything in-stock September 4, 5 & 7 (shop is closed on Sunday, September 6).
Beija-Flor Jeans is the Greenville based denim brand that carries jeans in every color and wash. They are champions of sustainability with their eco-friendly production, and utilize materials such as Modal® and Tencelâ„¢, both of which are made from cellulose which is derived from a renewable wood source. They’ll have a Labor Day Sale with 30% off storewide (excludes accessories and jewelry) including previously reduced sale items for up to 75% off original prices. In addition, you’ll receive a free face mask with purchase while supplies last.
Love these oyster shell earrings by Margerite & Motte at Noddy. Laura the designer finds the most unique and dainty oyster shells to make her one of a kind designs.
Whenever I need a pep in my step I go to Java Java for a Chai Latte and pastry. I finally tried their lunch and sampled their sandwiches and a salad and was happy I did. The veggie friendly Greenery Sandwich was right up my alley with avocado, lettuce, sliced cucumber, pickled onion, mozzarella, sprouts with a homemade green goddess dressing. I also couldn’t pass up the Autumn Grilled Cheese with apple chutney, sliced apple, brie cheese and cheddar cheese. Don’t worry, I didn’t attempt to eat all of this, I had my friend Libby of Plate South help me.
They also have a variety of smoothies and of course caffeinated drinks to keep you fueled up. They offer outdoor dining and it’s the perfect place to pick up food to go for a picnic on the beach.
Remember to wear your masks when popping into the stores and walking around. I found this cute leopard print mask to match these sunglasses from J. McLaughlin. They’re having 40% off all clearance items.
Here’s a full list of stores and restaurants that are participating in the Sidewalk Sale. Stay safe and enjoy the long weekend at Freshfields Village.
