Fresh Threads at Freshfields

It might still feel like summer in Charleston but it’s September 1st and everyone should be thinking about getting their fall wardrobe together. There are plenty of ways to transition into the next season by taking notes on fall’s favorite trends. I took a visit to Freshfields Village and checked out a couple of new stores to find some standout pieces to style on my friends. These stores are a fabulous addition to the retail mix at the village. From chic and fashion forward looks at Showroom to the casual cool vibe at Faherty.

I met my dear friend Laura Reed, the jewelry designer of Margerite and Motte, at Showroom to find some special pieces.

I am an intuitive stylist, which means I let my gut and intuition guide me when choosing the right outfits for my clients. After working in the fashion industry for over 20 years I’ve learned to shop and dress people with minimal time and help them look and feel their personal best. I

can tune into someone’s style and taste quickly and find the perfect outfits for their lifestyle or occasion. There is such a thing as “Decision Fatigue” which can sometimes paralyze people on how to dress everyday.

My theory is to cut through the noise and hon in on those pieces that bring you joy every time you wear it. Create a Capsule Wardrobe with versatility and invest in pieces that will transition you into the next season or from day to night.

Clothing is transformative, and when you dress with confidence you are ready to conquer the world.

It didn’t take me long to find this stunning dress in a seafoam green by Aje. Laura instantly felt fabulous and had a princess moment.

This dress combines 3 top trends of the season into 1 piece – midi-length, sequins, and a cut-out detail. The dramatic sleeves also give it so much drama. It’s truly an outfit that will turn heads the moment you walk into a room.

Showroom has so many stunning pieces from clothing to shoes, to jewelry. I was immediately drawn to this dress because of the color. It looks so striking on Laura’s skin tone and platinum hair.

Dressing should be fun and it can bring in that boost of positive energy to attract the right people and situations into your life.

I couldn’t resist trying on one more thing on Laura. This dress by Acler caught my attention with the color combo and dramatic waist detail.

Another trend for the season is unexpected color combinations. Color blocking is one of my favorite fashion statements. It can be featured in one piece like this dress or combined in separate pieces to create a look.

I’m obsessed with all of the jewelry at Showroom too. I love mixing metals and this gold and silver combo is so edgy.

This wool trench coat by Harris Wharf London is a classic piece everyone should have in their wardrobe. Whether you’re pairing it with jeans and sneakers for a casual look or over your favorite dress, you can’t go wrong.

Faherty is another new store that recently popped up at Freshfields Village. A NYC based brand with a California laid back cool aesthetic that suits our coastal lifestyle.

Sustainable clothing is their foundation with 77% of their materials made up of fibers like organic cotton, ethically sourced cashmere, recycled polyester, linen, and hemp. They also focus on using non-toxic dyes and water-efficient processes.

The staff is super-friendly and are passionate about the brand. We picked out this casual cool look for my friend Idèa.

The pants are the softest material and he felt instantly comfortable in the outfit. It’s all about the layers in Charleston because the weather can change on the hour in the fall.

Faherty makes the softest T’s, you’ll want them in every color.

Another fall trend is Après Ski and Faherty does their own take with their Southwest patterned Duster.

Holly & Brooks has been a Freshfields favorite, offering casual women’s clothing and accessories at all price points. I love this cozy jacket and platform sneakers from there.

The platform trend doesn’t seem to be going anywhere anytime soon. Why not add a couple of extra inches to your height and elevate your style?

Chain links are also a big accessory trend for fall and this linked bracelet looks great layered from Holly & Brooks.

One of my favorite places to grab a quick bite to eat at Freshfields Village is Java Java. They offer all the delicious caffeinated drinks and yummy smoothies and sandwiches to fuel you for your day.

My go to sandwich is The Greenery which is packed with avocado, lettuce, sliced cucumber, pickled onion, mozzarella, sprouts with a homemade green goddess dressing on toasted ciabatta. The combo is so healthy and fresh, and so satisfying.

There’s always something fun happening at Freshfields Village and Cars & Coffee is coming up on September 18 from  9:00 AM – 11:00 AM.

Grab your friends and browse the most unique and vintage cars at the Village Green next to Java Java. Spending the day in Kiawah shopping, eating and enjoying good company sounds like the perfect weekend to me!
