Father’s Day Feast
Father’s Day is just around the corner and there’s so many deserving dads out there that need to be celebrated. I know my hubby Gussy Whoa works hard and does so much to support our kids and me. I’ve highlighted several amazing Father’s Day gift ideas.
With my hectic work schedule he’s always there to swoop in to take care of the kids and me. Whether it’s taking Mateo and Sebastian to go fishing or shopping, doing my “mom” duties of grocery shopping or cooking, he’s more than my partner, he’s my hero.
Along with support he’s always giving encouragement and showing so much love to me and the boys. Being a parent is no walk in the park and I’m so thankful I have my soul mate to navigate through this very busy and demanding time in our lives.
We are so grateful to live in a city where local businesses are thriving and there is so much potential and growth as an entrepreneur. I’m highlighting a few local Charleston businesses that are perfect for Father’s Day gifts.
Who doesn’t love a cookout in the summertime? GRILL KILT just made grilling a lot more fun and stylish for men. Their functional manly apron has deep pockets to organize and access all your grilling essentials.
You can choose from 5 colors and the waistband is adjustable. GRILLKILT is sewn in the U.S.A. with 100% durable and washable cotton fabric. The founder Yates Dew launched his product last year, just as we were all staying at home more often and cooking more than ever.
Giving back is also an important component to GRILL KILT. They donate a percentage of profits to non-profit organizations that promote kindness and sustainability for mankind, animals and Mother Earth. Their first donation recipient is The Global Animal Partnership.
Is your man a meat lover? Well Herd Provisions is your place for the freshest and sustainable meats whether your shopping to cook at home or dining out. Located near Hampton Park downtown at 106 Grove Street, it’s part restaurant part butcher shop.
The butcher shop in the front of the building is all about the meat — you can purchase cuts of goat, lamb, beef, rabbit, chicken, goose, and turkey, depending on availability. The restaurant is open for brunch, lunch, and dinner and there’s even a veggie burger for the non-meat eaters.
If you’re thinking about grilling at home for Father’s Day they offer a Butcher’s Box which includes a bottle of wine, six patties and buns, special sauce, rub and directions on how to best cook the burgers.
The Darling Oyster Bar is one of my favorite places to grab fresh oysters and other delicious seafood-centric dishes. Located in a lovingly restored 115-year-old storefront on Upper King, they’re open for dinner and brunch on the weekends.
If you want to entertain at home let the Darling Oyster Bar come to you. Impress dad and your guests with an oyster roast, Lowcountry Boil, or just food to go. We ordered the Lobster roll, fries, oysters, salad, and hushpuppies to compliment our BBQ feast.
The Darling Oyster Bar‘s house made hot sauce has just the right amount of kick to compliment any oyster or dish.
I went with the seafood theme tables-cape with these beautiful silver dishes, salad servers and salt and pepper shakers from Croghan’s Jewel Box. Who says entertaining outdoors is limited to plastic cutlery and paper plates?
Tune into Lowcountry Live this Friday for my Father’s Day gift guide segment featuring GRILL KILT, Herd Provisions, and The Darling Oyster Bar. Plus we’re doing a big giveaway so be sure to follow me on my Instagram.
