Shop & Getaway Stay

I recently had a getaway to Hotel Bella Grace in downtown Charleston and thoroughly enjoyed my escape with my hubby Gustavo. Our schedules are so hectic this time of year that we usually neglect date nights and alone time with each other. We welcomed our hosted stay at Hotel Bella Grace with a quick and fully enjoyed 24 hours kid free.

They are located on Calhoun Street near Meeting Street right across from the Mother Emanuel AME Church and just down the road from Marion Square. Their spacious modern designed suites are great for longer stays as well with separate living and sleeping areas so you can work and relax. The room features a fully equipped European-style kitchen, a personal concierge, grocery delivery to complimentary hot breakfast and free Wi-Fi.

Their spacious bathroom has the perfect lighting to get ready in. I packed up all my RMS Beauty organic makeup for my date night out. I’m a big fan of their Master Radiance Base and their Wild With The Desire Lipstick in RMS Red.

Hotel Bella Grace is full of personal touches and I love this candle and chocolates that were waiting for us in our room.

Hotel Bella Grace is also conveniently situated a couple of blocks away from all the shopping on Middle and Upper King Street. Now more than ever it’s so important to shop small and recently local retailers have teamed up to form “Middle King Street Shopping District” aka MiKi. They offer the most curated and convenient shopping experience in downtown Charleston including contactless product delivery throughout the Lowcountry and regular social and email updates.

Participating MiKi retailers are Croghan’s Jewel Box, Hampden, M. Dumas & Sons, Grady Ervin & Co., M.P. Demetre Jewelers, Shoes on King, Jordan Lash, Jackson Davenport, Palm Avenue, and Finicky Filly. Some of the stores such as Croghan’s Jewel Box and M. Dumas & Sons have been family owned on King Street for over 100 years. The history of Charleston runs deep and it’s inspiring to know that there are businesses that have survived The Great Depression, wars, recessions and now a pandemic. It’s going to take all of us to support these small businesses to make sure they get through this challenging time.

I’m decked out in jewels from Croghan’s Jewel Box where you can find the most exquisite jewelry at every price point. Whether you’re looking for a fun statement piece or a special engagement ring, to plenty of gift ideas for him, her and even baby, they have it all. They’re hosting an Elizabeth Locke Trunk Show on Thursday, December 3rd – Saturday, December 5th. Known for her 19 karat gold creations featuring colorful Venetian glass and antique micromosaics, this show is always one not to miss.

Croghan’s Jewel Box also has a fantastic selection of ornaments. They have a whole wall dedicated to the most unique ornaments that will make you smile and laugh. I love these hand painted ones of Prince, Mr. Rogers, and Anna Wintour. Of course I’m a sucker for anything dachshund and they always have a few to choose from.

After an afternoon of strolling down King Street it was so nice to chill out in our hotel room and play a game of Backgammon. I love this travel set from Croghan’s Jewel Box which also make a great gift idea. Usually I’m swimming in the hotel bathrobes, but the ones at Hotel Bella Grace are a perfect fit. Stay tuned for my part 2 staycation at this chic hotel in the heart of downtown Charleston.
