Savannah Girls Trip

Savannah is Charleston’s sister city and I’m guilty of not visiting this magical place eough. After my Savannah girls trip last week with my girls Juju and Cristy Pratt of Morph Clothing, I promise to frequent this beautiful and welcoming city more often.

People say that Charleston is charming and people are so friendly, but Savannah definitely rivals in that department. I can’t tell you how many people we struck up conversations with. Everyone wanted to know our story and where we were from.

Whether it was a store we popped into or a restaurant we were eating at, the energy was flowing and we savored every moment and interaction. The Planter’s Inn hosted us for a couple of nights and we fully enjoyed our terrace access rooms overlooking Reynolds Square.

I packed all the pretty spring dresses from Bashful Boutique in Charleston. I feel like it was the first consistently warm spring week we’ve had and I’m glad I brought these dresses along with me.

Bashful is a sweet boutique located in South Windermere and stocks feminine and trendy clothing and accessories at the most affordable prices. You don’t have to go broke to look chic and put together, and Bashful is proof of that.

Errica the owner not only has a great eye, but offers the best customer service. Whether it’s her, her mom, or one of her friendly sales associates they take great care of their customers and value building relationships.

Bashful was also listed in Travel Mag’s top 20 boutiques in Charleston. I love anything local and I appreciate Savannah’s support of their local businesses too.

I love the design of downtown Savannah with all of their charming squares. It’s one big quaint neighborhood with the biggest oak trees and spanish moss hanging everywhere.

The city is very artsy and creative thanks to SCAD, and so many people from bigger cities have flocked to Savannah for it’s easy living and opportunity.

What happens when you get three ladies who love to seek out the most photogenic spots in a city? You get a pop up photo shoot.

We explored the Starland District which includes a row of vibrant murals by various artists at Bull and 41st Street. The Starland Mural Project is an initiative to support the funding, permitting, creation, and conservation of murals in the Starland District.

We even met one of the artist’s as we were taking photos and he said it made his day to see us creating art in front of his art. There’s also plenty local shopping and dining in the Starland District as well.

Even though we have a Husk in Charleston we wanted to check out Husk Savannah. We heard the food and decor was very different than Charleston’s and we’re glad we stopped in to sample the menu.

Nestled in our cozy but grand banquette, we got one of the best seats in the house. The contemporary decor paired with southern hospitality was refreshing.

When in doubt, just order everything on the appetizer and sides menu. We started off with the oysters on a half shell.

It was paired with the HUSK Vinegar, Horseradish-Peanut Relish, Cocktail Sauce. If you’re a seafood lover that likes to sample you have to get the Bigeye Tuna Sashimi with Daikon Radish, Bourbon Barrel-Aged Soy, and Sea BeansĀ and the Peel and Eat Shrimp.

Next up was the Bradford Collard Caesar with Mimolette, Fried Bread, Pumpkin Seeds. Now this is not your ordinary cesar salad and the collard greens give it an unexpected twist.

I’ll try to duplicate this one at home, but I know it won’t even come close to this dish. Other must haves are the Pimiento Cheese Profiteroles, Charcuterie, Charleston Rice with Snap Peas, Embered Bok Choy and Turnips. The food was modern, fresh and local, a recipe for success!

The charming Planter’s Inn was the perfect place to stay for our girls weekend. The location was walkable to everything and it was so nice to enjoy the scenery from the terrace.

If you’re looking for that old southern charm, the rooms will transport you to another time and place. My only regret was that I couldn’t spend more time in the luxurious four poster bed.

The staff was very friendly and accomadating, and the lobby was the perfect area to lounge in. I would definitely recommend The Planter’s Inn for a romantic getaway or girls trip.

I haven’t been away on a girls trip since last March in Palm Springs before COVID hit. Travelling with friends that you connect with on every level like Cristy and Juju always elevates the experience.

Reconnecting with old friends in Savannah and introducing them to my Charleston friends was my favorite part of the trip. Everyone got along famously and now Savannah has a very special place in our hearts. We promise to come back soon!
